WHISPA is a mobile application that offers young people (mostly women), quality sexual health education, private or anonymous telemedicine consultations, balanced contraceptive counselling and an affordable means to book contraceptive appointments, cervical cancer screening and vaccination, comprehensive tests for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) and more.
Furthermore, although Nigeria has one of the highest rates of new HIV infection in sub-Saharan Africa, rates of HIV testing and generally STI testing remain low and many people living with HIV are unaware of their status.
"Through WHISPA, young people are offered the shield of confidentiality to counter negative cultural perceptions around Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) topics and to seek care in a manner that is affordable, convenient and shame (stigma) free."
Whispa was launched in Nigeria in April 2020 by our CEO & Founder Morenike Fajemisin. The idea for Whispa was birthed as a result of her personal and professional experiences with the challenges young people continually face when trying to access sexual and reproductive healthcare.
Morenike is a pharmacist with over 10 years’ work experience. In those years, she has worked in different areas of public health programs, specifically in the areas of Contraceptive Social Marketing,
She is passionate about providing or creating a safe space for young people to ask questions about sexual health and get the right medical help from medical experts, without ever feeling stigmatized.
