Is My Vagina Too Wide?

Is My Vagina Too Wide ?

I remember growing up as a teenage girl and hearing guys describe some girls as having wide Vs (vaginas). Some aunties even made it believable with some of the comments they made. Statements like ‘her vagina would have expanded and become too wide because she is so wayward’.

Fast forward to last Friday evening, I was out with one of my protegees, and the song Woman by Simi came up.

That song resonated with both of us and this wasn’t our first time listening to the song together. Just that this time, it led us to conversations around female sexuality and genitalia. Then she slipped in the question, does too much sex really widen the vagina? Come with me, let me answer this question quickly.

So is your vagina too wide because you have had multiple sexual partners? My sister, the answer is no. Yes it increases in size in the short-term, and no, it is not a permanent increase in size.

I know some people, especially men prefer to believe that too much sex can widen the vagina. But in reality, it’s not a fact. It’s just a statement usually said to shame women. To dissuade them from being with multiple partners or even engage in sex at all as the case may be. When a man tells his female partner that her vagina is too wide, it is usually to term her as loose and promiscuous.

Facts About The Vagina

  • First of all, vaginas come in different sizes. (I mean, just like with all other body parts !) . Some vaginas are big, while some are small. So the question of too wide is really subjective. The vagina is somewhere between 3 to 6 inches long, and 1 to 2.5 inches wide on a normal day.
  • The vagina is designed to be elastic. What this means is that the size of the vagina is adjustable depending on the size of penis or as in the case of childbirth.
  • During sexual arousal, the size of the vagina increases in preparation for penetration. The upper portion of the vagina elongates, pushing the cervix and uterus slightly deeper into the body to make room for penetration. You know the shifting of womb thing, yea? The increase allows room for womb shifting. When a female is not fully aroused, the vagina walls don’t completely relax to increase the size of the vagina. In this case, the woman might feel too tight during sex.
  • The size of a man’s penis also determines how tight or how loose a vagina feels. Yea, you heard me right sis. So the next time you hear your man complain about how loose your vagina is, tell him it may have something to do with how small his penis is, 😒.

While it is true that there is usually an increase in the size of the vagina during sexual arousal or childbirth, but the increase in size is usually temporary. After arousal, the vagina goes back to its initial size… And in fact, most vaginas go back to the normal size by 6 months after childbirth or will only be a little wider.

So how big can a penis be that it could cause a permanent increase in vagina size, lori iro, no this is not possible.

Ways To Strengthen Your Vaginal Muscles

Only two things can affect your vagina’s elasticity: age and childbirth. Frequent sex or a lack thereof won’t cause your vagina to lose its stretch.

Over time, childbirth and age could potentially cause a slight, natural loosening of your vagina. Women who’ve had more than one vaginal birth are more likely to have weakened vaginal muscles. However, aging can cause your vagina to stretch slightly, regardless of whether you’ve had children.

Pelvic exercises are a great way to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles, When your pelvic floor muscles weaken from age or childbirth, you may try : Kegel exercises, pelvic tilt exercises and Diaphragmatic breathing.
