What happens if you are single and pregnant in Nigeria?

In Nigeria, when a lady is single and gets pregnant by not using a contraceptive, this is what happens:

A. After getting pregnant, She will stop schooling

B. Get beaten and sent out of the home to go and live with the man

C. Asked to stop work or sacked

D. Left to raise the child alone, without any financial support from the man

E: All of the above

Our founder-Morenike Fajemisin had this to say:

“When I was 5 years old, my cousin got pregnant and had to drop out of school. At that early age, I also got what passes for sex education or the Talk in Nigeria. it is best summarized as “Look at your cousin oo, this is what will also happen to you too if you let boys touch you and get you pregnant”.

There is no doubt that one or more of these scenarios has been experienced by countless other women or to a close family member or loved one. These are some of the reasons why at WHISPA, we believe in women having the right and the ability to prevent getting pregnant until they are ready. You don’t have to be single and pregnant if you don’t want to. One of the best ways to do this is by using contraceptives, so we also make sure we can help you get a method that suits you and at an affordable price at a private hospital near you.

So what are you waiting for? Hope you are not still relying on withdrawal or pull out? Roughly 27 out of every 100 women who use the withdrawal method will become pregnant. The Withdrawal method is not reliable. It doesn’t matter if your partner may claim he is ‘good’ at it. Before you become one of the 27, open your WHISPA app or click here to book your appointment today.

If you live outside Lagos, please call/text or chat with us on WhatsApp (08094477226) to book a contraceptive appointment.
